Primitivo grapes, also known as Zinfandel grapes in USA , growing in the Puglia region, the ‘heel’ of Italy’s ‘boot’. The grapes produce a robust and fruity red wine typical of the region. Whereas the Primitivo can trace it’s origins back to the Phonecian times, many thousand of years ago, the Zinfandel a varietal of the Primitivo grape can trace it’s US Californian origins to the 19th century. The grapes shown here are growing in the Itrea Valley of the Puglia region.
